Angrezi Medium : Comedy-drama Bollywood movie in 2020

Angrezi Medium is an Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film of 2020. It is directed by Homi Adajania and produced under the Maddock Films production banner. It is a spiritual sequel to the 2017 film Hindi Medium, starring Irrfan Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Radhika Madan, and Deepak Dobriyal.

The film was theatrically released in India on 13 March 2020. With its theatrical performance affected by the closing of cinemas due to the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic, plans for a re-release were canceled and the film was made available digitally less than a month after its release.

Story of Angrezi Medium:

Udaipur-based Champak Bansal (Khan) is a small-time businessman who owns one of two Ghasitaram sweet shops in the same locality, the other belonging to his brother Gopi (Dobriyal). Champak’s life revolves around bickering with his brother over whose shop represents the “original” Ghasitaram brand and taking care of his daughter, Tarika (Madan), who wants to pursue higher education in the UK.

Right from her childhood, Tarika (Radhika Madan) harbors a dream of studying abroad. Initially, her father Champak Bansal (Irrfan Khan), who owns a sweetmeat shop named Ghasitaram, is a bit apprehensive about her ‘videshi’ plans as he fears to lose his daughter. Nevertheless, he throws a challenge at Tarika to earn good grades and secure a scholarship at Truford University in London. With her hard work and dedication, Tarika passes with flying colors. Unfortunately, Champak inadvertently ends up ruining her opportunity of studying in London. Shattered by this, he takes it upon himself to fulfill his bitiya’s ambition by hook or by crook. The dedicated father gives in to his daughter’s dreams, but things soon start to spiral out of control when he has to pay the hefty fee.

An Another Stand with Angrezi Medium:

‘Angrezi Medium’ brings to the young generation’s fascination for higher studies in foreign countries while adding drama and comedy to the mix as the narrative moves from Udaipur to London. The screenplay also reflects on teen rebellion and generation gap. Mainly in the second part, Champak Bansal made all that a father can do for his children and succeeded to get an admission letter for his daughter. But Tarika was changed after coming to London and being life independently. Director Homi Adajania’s urge to add too many sub-plots takes its toll on the film during the second half. Ultimately Tarika came to know what her father has done for her admission and felt guilty for her all behavior and thinking. The story is shortly stated here. If you want to know the whole story then you have to watch the movie.

Review of Angrezi Medium:

In our opinion, the movie is based on the very true facts that happen in society. May be there are some parents who are not that much literate and also their lifestyle is not so modern. But that doesn’t mean that parents are not hoping or willing good for his children. In the film, Champak Bansal who is the father of Tarika, also want that his daughter would go for higher studies but he afraid of his bond and connection with his daughter.

Tarika’s mother passed away at the time of her birth. From then to her young age her father did all that parents should do together but he do that alone. So he is getting afraid if her daughter will go London and forget him then he will be lonely. This is not only his thinking, every single child-parent think about this.

Our opinion regarding this Movie:

Also to fulfill own wish many times children are so cruel that they didn’t think about their parents but they are very much excited to do and take step such that their parents are getting hurt. But the child didn’t get this at that time, when he or she understood that it was very late. But the lovely thing is that parent’s anger doesn’t live for long. Here the care of a father, affection, and love between father, brother, friend and daughter is unforgettable.

The most beautiful scene is that when a father shows his love and care and thinking for his daughter and at the last when his daughter understand all that his father and she has done. End with a sweet a note that, “when child is small, parent hold his or her finger, but when he or she brought up, leave his or her finger so that he or she can hug his or her parent”.

The film is based on the rape case and how Shivani Shivaji Roy (Rani Mukerji) goes up against a 21-years-old rapist and murderer played by newcomer Vishal Jethwa. In an open chat with a hawkish TV anchor (Rajesh Sharma), Shivani lays bare as to how merely existing is a struggle for women. Rapes happen because of the rape-culture being tolerated by society and that needs to change. This long scene has Rani at her best. There’s no acting involved as she’s speaking from the heart. The climax scene, where she gets violent, too will shake you up for sure.

It is announced on 10^th December 2018 by Social media posts. The first look was revealed in April 2019 and the release date was announced in September 2019. But the movie released in theatre on 13^th December 2019 worldwide on 2105 screens. The film performed successfully at the box office and earned a worldwide gross of 671.2 million.

This type of social script movie should be released on theatre to make people more aware and introduce them to the reality of the present situation.

Batla House – The Bollywood Movie 2019 by John Abraham

Batla House is a 2019 Indian Hindi language Action Thriller film written by Ritesh Shah and directed by Nikkhil Advani. The film stars John Abraham opposite Mrunal Thakur. The trailer released on 10^th July 2019 and the movie released in theatres on the occasion of Independence Day i.e. 15^th August 2019 along with another film that is Mission Mangal.

The plot of Abraham’s Batla House is based on the Batla House encounter case that took place in Jamia Nagar in Delhi in 2008. This encounter claimed the lives of two alleged terrorists who were responsible for multiple bombings all over the country. In the story, Sanjeeb struggled a lot to catch the fugitives and prove the police acted lawfully.

Operation Batla House, this was Delhi Police Special Cell’s shoot out with the alleged terrorists responsible for the Delhi blasts holed up in a flat, in the now-infamous Batla House. This is perhaps one of the most controversial chapters of the Delhi Police as several questions were raised on the arrests and killings, including that of martyred encounter specialist and Delhi Police inspector Mohan Chand Sharma. The operation was spearheaded by then ACP and now DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.

The brilliantly choreographed action and chase sequences ensure several edges of the seat moments. Where Batla House falters is in the second half, when the proceedings slacken with the courtroom drama slowing it down further. Despite some clap worthy dialogues making it there. And some of the complexities and nuances are filtered down. Nora Fatehi’s dance number seems a force fit in an otherwise grim narrative, though her character is weaved in well. But there is no doubt this is John Abraham’s film all the way, he is well cast in the role of a committed ACP, who is a man of few words, and arguably gives his career’s best so far. Even his strained relationship with his wife Nandita (Mrunal Thakur) and his internal angst is etched out effectively. It’s an all-consuming role and John Abraham nails the body language and the intensity. Ravi Kishan as Inspector Kishan Kumar Verma and Mrunal Thakur are well cast though Rajesh Sharma as the defense lawyer (in a wig that is an eyesore), comes across as overdramatic.

The film is made by inspiring on the true-life story of Kaushik who was only 21 when he was spotted by the RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) officials at a national level dramatic meet, who approached him to work as an undercover agent in Pakistan. In the next two years, Kaushik was given an intense training where he learned the deadly tradecraft of modern-day spies. During this training, which was both mentally and physically straining, Kaushik learned Urdu and got well-versed in the Muslim religion. At a young age of 23, Kaushik, with a new identity and a new name – Nabi Ahmed Shakir – was sent to Pakistan for one of the greatest espionage missions of India. When Inayat Mashi caught by Pakistani intelligence, she also revealed all the information about the operation besides revealing the true identity of Ravindra Kaushik. Kaushik got arrested by Pakistan and spent the next 16 years of his life in different jails in several Pakistani cities. Even worse was the fact that the Indian government refused to own him. Such is the life of a spy working for his country. They’re the unsung heroes who never get their due, or better yet, they perhaps don’t even work for the dues. Kaushik’s untold story has inspired many movies over the years, most recently to be reprised by John Abraham in Romeo Akbar Walter.

When John Abraham, the stunner of Action movies acted in trio-roles in this movie, the audience would be uncontrollable. The Action thriller with first initials as RAW has a plot based on espionage in Pakistan. The movie is full of twists and turns and does not fail to surprise us, but at the same time seems complex. At the same time, Alia Bhatt’s “Raazi” film makes a soft corner on the audience’s heart, so the RAW lacked certain points to reach that.

This film speaks about the legend of Queen Lakshmi Bai, who fought for the throne by igniting an inferno through the “Indian rebellion of 1857” against the British Raj. Kangana Ranaut, who is herself the queen of Bollywood, paints the picture of that fierce warrior by portraying the utmost sense of chivalry rushing in her blood. The movie will give you goosebumps as Kangana has not come undone this time! The remembrance of history lessons and the breathtaking power-packed scenes makes this one special. As the Uri: The Surgical Strike was running successful and that is related to the incident of a few years ago, so it took the heart of the audience. Though it has historical fame it did not get that much love.
