Story of Darbar:
The film opens with Aaditya Arunachalam, Commissioner of Mumbai Police killing gangsters in Mumbai using encounters.
In a flashback, Aaditya arrives in Mumbai with his only daughter Valli to become Commissioner of Police. He cleans up drugs and trafficking using the situation of the kidnapped minister’s daughter as a catalyst. During this mission, he comes to know about drug supplier Ajay Malhotra who supplies 80% of drug and he is the son of industrialist Vinod Malhotra. When Aaditya goes to prison to meet Ajay, he is shocked to see that a proxy is in prison and not Ajay. Aaditya asks Indian government commission to investigate this and the corrupt officials declare the proxy is Ajay and there was no error. Aaditya comes to know that Ajay is in Thailand and gets Thai police to arrest him along with his fake passport. Since the government already declared Ajay is in jail they are forced to declare the person in Thailand as a different person. Aaditya uses this loophole and shoots Ajay’s proxy (Anil Pawar) in jail and announces that his body will be shown to the public. This forces corrupt officials to actually kill Ajay to save face and replace original Ajay’s body instead of the proxy killed by Aaditya. At Ajay’s funeral Vinod Malhotra reveals that Ajay is not his child. He is the son of Hari Chopra, an international drug lord. As soon as Hari comes to know about his son’s death, he enters India and kills Vinod Malhotra. He also attacks unsuspecting Aaditya and his daughter. In this attack,Aaditya survives but his daughter dies of internal bleeding that made Aaditya extremely violent and he begin to punish the criminals mercilessly.

Review of Darbar Movie:
Darbar is a complete commercial movie, watch it only for Rajinikanth. With a weak villain character, a long flashback, unending cat and mouse games and an emotional second half, Darbar is just a regular cop entertainer for Rajini fans.
Is the movie based on Real Life Story?
It is rumouring on social media that the story of ‘Darbar’ matches the real story of a Mumbai police officer YC Pawar who fought against Vardha Bhai.
Now, after the release, Darbar is having a dream run at the box office and making a big mark not only in India but worldwide too. As per the latest development, Superstar Rajinikanth starrer Darbar has now made into top 5 at the worldwide box office.
AR Murugadoss’s ‘Darbar’ is a film dedicated to Rajinikanth, who is clearly in no mood to slow down. Rajinikanth plays a cop named Aaditya Arunachalam, who has no rules or mercy. Aaditya has to break the law to ensure justice is served. Sent to Mumbai to handle the city’s drug menace, he goes on a murderous rampage. As part of the Aaditya’s operation, he crosses paths to face-off gangster Hari Chopra (Suniel Shetty) and the their face-off forms the crux of the story. Darbar has its moments, but it doesn’t bring anything new to the table. ‘Darbar’ plays to the gallery and manages to entertain in the first half and it is unbreakable at the climax end. As Rajinikanth is in the film, other supporting characters does not get so much importance. Nivetha Thomas, who plays Rajinikanth’s daughter, does a solid job. Nayanthara is a showpiece and has pretty much nothing to do. Suniel Shetty, as the protagonist, lacks colour and a villainous personality.
It runs 50+ days in Chennai, Tanjore, Trichy, Tuticorin, and Nagercoli without any shifting event.
